Face shape ratios and colour season scores
A face shape is defined here by three ratios: length to cheekbone width, forehead to cheekbone width, and jaw to cheekbone width. A square face sits at 1.10, 0.96 and 0.97. An oblong sits at 1.58, 0.90 and 0.84. Twelve colour seasons are scored on temperature, depth, contrast and chroma, each from 1.00 to -1.00.

Face shape profiles
Each figure is a proportion, so head size does not affect it. A measurement is classified by nearest profile, with the gap to the runner-up reported as confidence.

These are editorial thresholds for a repeatable nearest-profile comparison, not anthropometric norms. They are stated so a result can be checked, which is the opposite of most guidance in this area. Anyone quoting them should say the same.
Glossary
- Length to cheek ratio
- Face length from hairline to chin, divided by the width across the cheekbones at their widest. The single figure that separates a long face from a short one. An oblong sits at 1.58, a round at 1.06.
- Jaw to cheek ratio
- Width across the jaw at the angles, divided by width across the cheekbones. Measures how much the face tapers below the cheekbones. A triangle sits at 1.02, meaning the jaw is wider; a heart at 0.72.
- Forehead to cheek ratio
- Width across the forehead, divided by width across the cheekbones. Separates a broad brow from a narrow one. A heart sits at 1.00, a diamond at 0.78.
- Temperature
- How warm or cool the colouring is, from 1.00 fully warm to -1.00 fully cool. One of four axes a colour season is scored on, and the one most guidance stops at.
- Depth
- How light or dark the colouring reads overall, from 1.00 deep to -1.00 light. Independent of temperature: a light season can be warm or cool.
- Contrast
- The gap between hair, skin and eye depth, from 1.00 high to -1.00 low. Dark hair on pale skin is high contrast; blonde hair on fair skin is low.
- Chroma
- How clear or muted the colours must be, from 1.00 clear to -1.00 muted. The axis that separates the two warm families: Warm Spring at 0.65 clear, Warm Autumn at -0.70 muted.
- Nearest profile
- The classification method used here. Measured ratios are compared against every published profile and the closest is reported, together with how close the runner-up was, rather than a single label with no margin.
